Arbequina

Arbequina is one of the best-known olive oil products that have arisen in the isle of Mallorca. It is a product with a fine tradition: Legend has it that King Jaime I brought this wonderful olive to Catalonia from the island of Mallorca and the Lord of Arbeca - hence the name of this olive oil: ARBEQUINA - is said to have planted and cultivated it on his feud.

Flavour and taste

The Arbequina fruit is small but highly aromatic and appreciated by many. It is ripe enough to be harvested between the first week of November and the first week of December.

It has a unique, fresh flavor recalling the various pleasant smells of almonds and some other fruits. In its variety of flavours it may taste somewhat bitter, spicy or sweetish, too. The slightly bitter savour is due to the early harvesting, at a time when the olives are still green; hence also the fresh, greenish colour.

Being of a lovely smoothness, ARBEQUINA presents itself as of a refined taste, a flavour that many people appreciate and within a short time take a fancy to and acquire a taste for. A unique oil which we take pride in and enjoy.

Flavour and taste

Picual olive oil comes across as a fruity oil with a fine and somewhat bitter and spicy flavor. Its characteristics are its natural aroma that comes along with traces of fig tree, fresh-cut wood and tomato and, at times, of almond, banana and apple.

Its intensely green color is symptomatic of this type of olive oil.
It is known for its high nutritional value, its low content of linoleic acid and for its moderate content of palmitic acid.

In addition, its content of tocopherols (vitamin E )is rated high and high as well is its quantity of polyphenols, which act as a strong antioxidant.

All this gives PICUAL olive oil its specific and pleasant character.

Everything mentioned above contributes to its extremely high resistance to oxidation, thus to rancidity. Thereby this product easily exceeds two years of storage life, unaltered in savour.
The personality of Picual olive oil will never leave you indifferent.

Mallorquina

Our olive oil product Mallorquina is unrivalled in various ways: this type of olives grows on Mallorca island only. It is protected by its own designation of origin, the "Mallorca Olive" seal ("Aceituna de Mallorca").  Only olive trees of the mountain range "Sierra de Tramontana" that are at least 75 years old, grows this special fruit with differentiated organoleptic characteristics.

The producing area is part of the UNESCO world heritage area, a region of unspoiled beauty. Collecting the olives, however, is a real challenge as most of these olive trees grow on mountain terraces and steep slopes, which makes harvesting arduous and time-consuming.

Flavour and taste

Our Ullaró special edition oil "Son Alzines" is the result of olive trees that have been cultivated on our finca for more than five hundred years and we most certainly take care of these precious trees as they deserve it.

We collect these olives in the last week of October, at a time when we consider the oil to have reached its highest quality, its fruity taste, and when we are convinced that it is perfect in its composition and aromas.

Oil obtained from these green and healthy olives with its typically yellowish green colour is distinguished for its fresh fragrance that reminds you of green grass and tomato, with citric traces. It is then that Mallorquina has reached in its composition the perfect balance of bitter and spicy.
This olive oil caters for people who cherish the elaborate and refined taste, it is an oil for connoisseurs.
